Are inground vinyl liner pools actually durable?
YES! They are actually more durable than all other types of pools. Gunite and fiberglass pools crack when the ground shifts too much. This is not an issue with vinyl because the liner is so flexible! People think vinyl liner pools are cheaply made because the liner needs to be placed more often than fiberglass or gunite pools. This does not make them a less quality product. The liner will last for 10 years(7-15 years) on average then it will need to be replaced, costing $3,500-$5,000. Well, gunite pools need to be resurfaced every 10 years costing $10,000+ and fiberglass pools look faded after 15-20 years costing $15,000+. When the liner is replaced the pool looks brand new and you can choose from hundreds of styles/colors giving your pool an updated look! The walls are made out of thick steel that never cracks and the floor is made of a concrete substance formulated specifically for pools that stays super smooth and flat even if it does crack!
How long does it take to install my pool?
Above Ground: 1-2 days from start to finish. You will be ready to swim on the second day!
Inground: 2-4 weeks depending on weather and how fast the electricians and concrete crew can get started on your pool.
Here is the breakdown–
Excavation: 1-2 days unless we hit rock. Then 1-3 days more on average.
Walls and plumbing: 1-2 days
Pool-krete floor and backfill walls: 2 days
Setting vinyl liner: 1 day
Pouring concrete: 1-2 days
Finishing touches and cleaning: 2-3days
Total: 8-15 days spread between 2-4 weeks due to unforeseen weather and scheduling complications.
What are the disadvantages of a vinyl liner pool?
The only weak part of vinyl liner pools is the liner itself. Sharp objects can cut the liner which means you have to patch it and the liner will tear after about 10-15 years if installed properly. It cost $3500-$5,000 depending on size of pool to replace the liner. Some people think that vinyl liner pools look cheap and honestly they used to be. Due to advancements in products this in no longer the case. You can get vinyl covered steps and a cantilevered concrete coping that now makes them look just as good as any other pool option!
